After 14 months living and working all across New Zealand, having walked 200km in the Rainforests in the Waitakere rainforest, we challenged ourselves to complete the nearly 20km Tongariro Alpine Crossing. A long distance, that was intensified by the stifling heat of the day. The scenery is arrid, brutal and volcanic. 

I believe it's one of the only places I've ever been to, that I imagine is a bit like exploring the moon. Craters, rocks, more rocks, with a hint of past volcanic activity.

You only realise the scale of the active volcanoes that you are surrounded by, when you spot what look like ants above or below you.
